The Language School

As well as giving you the opportunity to learn and speak English, Singapore is one of the great destinations of the world. A cosmopolitan city, Singapore gives you the chance to experience the true magic of South East Asia in one city. Traditional cultures exist side by side with the world of tomorrow. Singapore is a tropical paradise of truly memorable experience. Great food, great shopping and great nightlife. SINGAPORE HAS IT ALL!

Added to this, Singapore is the perfect location from which to visit our fascinating neighbours like Malaysia, Thailand and even Australia. There is so much to explore.

The English Courses

Private English tuition

Private lessons consist of the teacher and student only. The course content can be tailored to the needs of the student. This is a wonderful opportunity for highly motivated students to concentrate on the skills they need most. Course is subject to availability at the school.

Intensive English

This course starts every Monday and caters for students from beginner to advanced level. This course is for students with an interest in improving their English in a wider, general context, whether it is for travel, friendship or their career. The course is divided into morning and afternoon components, making it possible for students to study full-time and take electives. Regular testing is done to monitor the students’ performance and give feedback.

Semi-Intensive English

This course starts every Monday and caters for students from beginner to advanced level. This course is for students with an interest in improving their English as well as an outside activity like working. Lessons are generally held in the morning, giving students free time to follow their own interests. The course provides the same kind of learning experience and the same components as in the Intensive Course, but obviously progress will be slower. Course is subject to availability at the school.

TOEIC Exam courses

TOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. Many universities and institutions around the world use TOEFL scores as a condition of entry, especially in the USA and Canada.

TOEFL can now be taken as a written test or as a computer-based test. The test has four sections, which must all be answered. The sections are Listening, Structure, Reading and Writing. The difference between the written and the computer-based tests is that the computer-based test is computer-adaptive. This means that the computer chooses the next questions on how well you answered the last question.

Holiday Course Programs

Students can have the opportunity to combine an English language course with a sightseeing or adventure holiday! Holiday programs can be designed to focus on English and/or recreational activities, can be combined with homestay and a 24 hour emergency support service.
Our Holiday programs offer the student a wide variety of cultural and recreational activities. Activities range from pleasant barbecues and picnics to day trips to famous places.
A program can be designed to suit any requests.

Young Learners Program

A short course for an age generally lower then 15 years old and at an elementary/pre intermediate level. The course covers a wide range of useful English with a focus on this age group. There is considerable attention given to getting students involved in activities that will enable them to use their language skills in realistic situations and settings.

Accommodation options

Students have the following housing options:

Homestay

A Homestay is the greatest experience you can have when you travel. In an instant, you make friends and become a part of a family with whom you will correspond forever. You will play a great part in global exchange, promoting understanding and respect for other cultures and views.

Our Student Services Departments ensure that students are placed in caring and experienced Homestay families, while carefully matching families to students' Homestay requests. Students' welfare is as important to the school as their academic achievement, and we believe that this is what distinguishes us from other schools.

Schools provide 24-hour emergency contact numbers, which allow not only for students to feel safe and at ease, but their families in their own countries can have a peace of mind, too.

Au Pair (dependent on the school)

Au Pair is a program that places students with local host families that seek help with childcare or household tasks. In exchange for working, a student receives accommodation and meals.

Generally to be eligible for the au pair program, students must:

  • Be between 18 and 30 years old, in good health, mature and responsible
  • Speak English at a minimum of Intermediate level
  • Be able to show that they have some experience in childcare and household duties (such as cleaning, ironing and cooking)
  • Provide references (An international driver's license, though not compulsory, would be an advantage)

Alternative Accommodation

Although GEOS does not really recommend alternative accommodation we understand that for some students it is the best option. This is why all schools are able to help in finding alternative accommodation i.e. backpackers, flat mates etc.

Schools will always have listing s of share accommodation arrangements and the friendly staff is always there to help any student who may have an enquiry.
