The Language School

Established in 1988 the school has over 20 years' experience in language teaching. The school provides high-quality courses of Russian for foreigners, teaching over 2,500 students a year in our 40 modern classrooms. The school uses the latest teaching methodologies and materials with focus on conversation. One of the greatest advantages is that they believe that practically anyone can learn a language and they focus on catering to individual student needs, allowing a student to learn quickly.

Students are from all walks of life and as a result lessons are generally tailored to suit a given student's requirements.  Groups are comprised of students who have the same level of language knowledge and are no larger than 8, the size ensuring an optimal learning environment.

The school is accredited by the Russian Ministry of Education and Science as a centre for teaching Russian as foreign language and a member of ALTO, FIYTO and St. Petersburg Chamber of Commerce.

The Russian Courses

Group Courses: General Russian (48 hours, any level)

Students achieve the best results through intensive group interaction within a productive, imaginative and enjoyable environment. With no more than 8 students per class you will get personalized attention and every opportunity to speak and participate. This way you'll be able to progress at a maximum speed.

The General Russian course is designed to develop and improve all areas of practical Russian, including reading, writing, speaking and listening. During the course students have regular and structured opportunities to speak and enhance their oral grammar. All new language is practiced in meaningful context through communicative tasks (even the classical learn-it-yourself-at-home grammar items such as cases). Syllabi incorporate useful up-to-date high-frequency lexis.

Individual Courses: General Russian or Business Russian

EducaCentre has a wealth of one-to-one courses on offer at all language levels. The one-to-one format enables you to benefit from full personal attention from your teacher. If you have specialised requests and wish to improve a particular skill or language area, one-to-one is your best option. The course is continually adapted to your individual progress and requirements.

In addition to tailor-made courses developed at student's request after preliminary conversation with the Head of Studies, the school also offers two standard one-to-one courses in General Russian and Business Russian.

The Business Russian course focuses on the language skills needed to conduct your business in Russian. Skills learnt include writing and understanding business correspondence, giving complex instructions, negotiating, attending meetings, report writing, presentation skills, interpreting financial documents and communication by telephone. The course serves to consolidate and expand students' practical experience, using authentic material with task based problem-solving and role-play situations.

Although you can choose how many lessons per week you want to study (minimum two) we suggest you choose from the following four levels of intensity:

- Light:                      15 lessons per week

- Standard:              20 lessons per week

- Intensive:              30 lessons per week

- Super Intensive: 40 lessons per week

Survival Russian

From 2 to 40 lessons per week.

The Survival Russian course is an excellent choice for travellers who don't intend to study Russian until they'll be able to grasp all the details in Dostoevsky's novels or write their own books in Russian. If you need Russian for the short period of your stay in Russia and you don't want to depend on your guide when exploring, Survival Russian is your choice. You will learn how to understand everyday spoken Russian through communicative activities and role play, using real-life materials such as menus, bills, train or concert tickets. Whether you need to do shopping, ask for directions, book a hotel or speak Russian on your travels, the course will help you to survive.

The Extras courses have been designed to enable students who study General Russian to increase the range of their vocabulary according to their professional interests or hobbies.
