The Language School

The Inlingua School of Languages in Munich was founded by the Dammann family in 1897 and has been run as a family enterprise ever since.  Even then, the school had a good reputation in Munich, not only thanks to the native-speaking teachers. Members of the Bavarian royal house studied languages such as Hungarian here.  In 1983, the school was taken over from the Umlaufs by the Bernau family - Uwe and Christel and their daughter Ute, with another daughter, Claudia, as a silent partner.

Because nowadays, acquiring foreign languages is without a doubt more important than ever. In addition to English and German as a foreign language, we provide tuition in all the world's living languages. Many of the language courses at inlingua Munich lead to European language diplomas.  Before customers begin their language training, they are comprehensively advised by inlingua's specialists. Existing language skills are ascertained precisely and the language goals established.

The German Courses

Intensive Group German Courses

Intensive German course (20 lessons per week)

20 lessons per week for general language from 9:00-12:30 or 13:20-16:30. Throughout the year; all levels; any amount of weeks; starting every Monday for participants with knowledge of German

Intensive German course (26 lessons per week)

20 lessons per week for general language from 9:00-12:30 and two 3 unit lessons of conversation in the afternoon. Throughout the year; beginning every Monday; all levels; not for absolute beginners.

Intensive German course with 20 lessons per week with cultural activities

20 lessons per week for general language from 9:00-12:30. After the lesson or at the weekend, the following 5-6 leisure activities are included: City sightseeing tour: Munich’s highlights, Neuschwanstein Castle and Linderhof (alternative: Romantic road - Rothenburg), visit the Olympic Park and Tower, Nymphenburg Palace, Dachau – visit to the town and concentration camp, welcoming party (July and August). Throughout the year; all levels; starting every Monday for participants with knowledge of German; see above for dates for beginners.

Intensive German course plus 10 lessons of one-to-one tuition

20 lessons in a group for general language from 9:00-12:30  plus 10 lessons private training (also for specialised language). All year round; all levels; beginning every Monday for participants with previous knowledge. Your benefits: These courses offer the relaxed atmosphere of a group together with the more intensive, tailor-made programme of private tuition. This means effective daily language training that provides you with the group experience and at the same time, caters for your personal goals and requirements. Objectives: In addition to improving the level of general language skills, this course is tailor-made to your specific requirements.

Intensive Individual German Courses

CIP 120®  - Crash Intensity Programmme

CIP 120® is a highly intensive language training programme. With CIP 120® you achieve the greatest possible success in the shortest possible time.

Programme: With intensive daily training and 10 to 50 lessons tuition per week (with your personal trainer), what you learn becomes second nature to you. As part of the fifty lesson programme, your native-speaker trainer will accompany you to lunch so that you can communicate in the foreign language in a relaxed atmosphere. In all, you benefit from an especially intensive crash course tailored to your personal needs, goals and schedule.

MIP 720® - Maximum Intensity Programme

50 lessons per week of highly intensive and effective private lessons with your personal trainer and tailor-made programme, incl. daily lunch during the week, an evening programme and an excursion at the weekend accompanied by a trainer; incl. course material. All year round, all levels, beginning every Monday.

Inlingua Munich is one of the very few schools in Germany selected to be an MIP 720® centre.

MIP 720® is tailor-made to be our fastest, most effective programme. It is particularly suitable for students from abroad.

Programme: 10 lessons of highly intensive German training per day; Personal trainer; Your trainer will accompany you to lunch every day; A trainer is available one evening a week to accompany you to theatres, museums, concerts, etc; Special programme based on professional requirements

Examination Courses

- Special preparation courses for internationally- recognised language certificates

- Intensive one-to-one preparation (5 double lessons a week) for the German Language Certificate (Zertifikat Deutsch) and the German as a Foreign Language (TestDaF) examination. Grading test required to ascertain level according to the European Framework of Reference (top of level B1 for ZD or level C1 for TestDaf).

Special Programmes

„Abitur“ in Germany

Study place in a select boarding school for 1 year incl. accommodation. The student attends school in the 11th Grade for 1 year (Sept.-July) The school will then decide whether the student can stay and complete the „Abitur“ (End of the 13th grade)

German Language and Skiing/Snowboarding Camp (16-21 years)

Intensive Course German with 20 lessons per week plus 1 week’s skiing in Obertauern (Austria)

A one-week skiing and snowboard camp in Obertauern followed by 20 lessons for general language training from 9:00-12:30 (one week). Accommodation during the skiing / snowboard camp is in dorms with a shared shower / WC /half-board, and dur-ing your German course in a double room (or a single room for a surcharge) with half-board at the home of the approved host family in Munich or in the suburbs. Also included:  transfer to and from airport/ station, transfer by taxi from the host family home to the coach depot (once only), ski-pass, skiing / snowboard course (all levels).  Requirements for participation: German course: all levels; skiing / snowboard course: all levels.

German Language and Weekend Skiing Course (18+)

2 week Intensive German Course in combination with weekend skiing (3 weekends, 6 days)

20 lessons per week for general language training from 9:00-12:30. The three weekends during your stay are spent at various ski-resorts (the final selection will be made at short notice depending on the snowfall). You are accommodated during the week by the approved host family in Munich or the suburbs in a double room with half-board (or a single room for a surcharge). At the weekend, accommodation is in 3-4* hotels in a double room with half-board. Also included: transfer to and from airport/station, transfer by taxi to and from the host family home to coach depot on first skiing weekend, 6 days’ ski-pass, skiing course (all levels), Requirements for participation: German course: all levels except complete beginners; skiing course: all levels.
