The Language School

PERL is located in a central, lively and real Parisian district. The school is opened all year round, except 2 weeks during Christmas holidays.

The French classes start every Monday all year round, except for complete beginners who start on the first Monday of each month. Students can choose the duration of their course and the number of French lessons. There are 10 different French levels, from beginner to advanced.

We have a superior teaching staff, all our teachers have at least a Master in teaching French as a Foreign Language.

The French Courses

General French Courses

The General French courses give enough time to study towards one or more goals while working on the four skills:

- Oral comprehension

- Writing comprehension

- Oral expression: presentations, debates, role-playing working sessions in small groups, spelling, pronunciation…

- Writing expression: introduction to essay, synopsis, press review…

Each class has a primary objective, such as developing a competence in:

- Communication

- Grammar: conjugation, syntax, sequence of tenses

- Semantics

- Modern French: idioms from recent social and cultural events

Students are continuously encouraged to express themselves through guidance (imitation/repetition) or instinctively. Hence, we offer a very friendly environment where students feel confident to interact not only with their fellow students but also with their teachers.

Standard French Course

These courses run in the mornings or in the afternoons leaving half days free for self-study, social programs, etc.

The standard course will help you to:

- Improve overall French language skills

- Improve confidence in using French

- Develop an ability to meet and interact with other students from around the world in French

Intensive French Course

The Intensive Course is a combination of 20 lessons standard course + afternoon classes which will help you to improve your French skills depending on your levels.
The afternoon classes further intensify the tuition and consolidate what you have learnt through conversation classes and a review of the French culture and civilization. A continual practice of the French language builds your confidence and improves your fluency.

General Plus Specific French Courses

The General French courses give enough time to study towards one or more goals while working on the four skills:

With our original afternoon Workshops the students will have the opportunity to improve their French skills depending on their levels and specific needs:

Corrective phonetics in small groups in order to improve accent and pronunciation.

- Creative Writing Workshop: 4 lessons
Improvement of written skills through creative essays, with the help of a professional writer.

- Oral Expression through Theatre Workshop: 4 lessons
Improvement of oral skills through the theatre tools, with the help of a professional actor.

- Business French Workshop: 4 lessons
Vocabulary belonging to the business world, professional role-plays. This workshop also prepares to the Paris Chamber of Commerce exams. Hence, it represents an important asset for the follow-up of specific studies or for the integration in a French company (or a foreign company working with France).

- Exams preparation Workshop: 4 lessons
Training specialized in the preparation for French language official exams: DELF, DALF, TCF & TEF.

Programs for Au Pairs

The Au Pair status is a very particular status that allows students to stay a long time in a country with a special Au Pair visa. The demand must be done at the French Embassy once the students have found a family and a school.

We offer special prices for Au Pair students (the student must justify his status in order to benefit from these prices).
Students can settle their own timetable depending on their availabilities and according to their French families requests.

They can choose between the following courses:

Evening French Classes

Lessons are in small groups of 6 to 8 students, which can be financed by your company. PERL is registered at the Prefecture de Paris under the number 11752481375.

These General French classes focus on the four skills:

- Oral comprehension

- Writing comprehension

- Oral expression: presentations, debates, role-playing working sessions in small groups, spelling, pronunciation

- Writing expression: introduction to essay, synopsis, press review…

These courses take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6.30 pm to 8.30pm.

Private French Classes

Personalized program adapted to the learner’s speed and availabilities that allows a quick and efficient progress at PERL or at work.
Students can choose between general and/or specialized French. The training can be financed by the company established in France.

Special Trainings

French Phonetics Workshops (2 lessons/week)

This workshop is ideal for those who wish to work both on pronunciation and oral comprehension. The exercises as dialogues or as phonetic games will enable you to:

- Distinguish the different sounds

- Avoid making the common mistakes

French Oral expression through Theatre

Our theatre teacher gives the students the opportunity to practice their linguistic skills. The exercises are led by theatre professionals and use theatre techniques to allow students to overcome their fear, improve their expression and work on verbal and non-verbal components such as voice, intonation, rhythm, etc. Training courses are organized in winter or summer for classes with a minimum of 6 students.

This intensive two-week course is particularly well suited for any student wishing to improve their spoken French, communicate comfortably in any situation and gain a French touch.

Business French Course

Students will use business documents to study the 4 main skills of the language in context: written and oral understanding as well as written and oral expression.
A wide variety of subjects, such as globalization or the workplace for instance, will be studied. Students will also be given the opportunity to test their knowledge and skills through exercises and role-play.

This 2-week intensive training will suit any student who wishes to improve his/her French, integrate a firm or work in the International market, to evaluate his/her level in this specific topic and to take and pass the French certificates.

French Certification Courses

This intensive two-week course will suit any student wishing to improve their French skills, join a French company or University, assess their level in French and take French certification exams.

DELF and DALF are official qualifications set up by the French ministry for education to attest the level in French of non-French speaking candidates. DELF and DALF include 6 certificates corresponding to the European Credit Transfer System for languages.

TCF

TCF is a test set up by the French Ministry of Education. It is a linguistic level test in general French language. This test is aimed at all non-French speaking students who wish to obtain a quick and easy validation of their French skills for work reasons. This exam includes compulsory and complementary tests.

The full exam assesses a French competency level. It is standardized and graded at national and international level. The methodology used to design this test is very thorough and the result is a test that can be used as a perfect measuring tool. The results will provide candidates with a reliable idea of their position on the European Council (ECTS) six level scales. Each candidate will be given a certificate.
