The Language School

LSI Vancouver is ideally located in the heart of the downtown district. The city's main attractions, such as shopping malls, galleries and theatres, are within easy walking distance, as are bus, Seabus and Skytrain services.

The school is on the first floor of a modern office tower. We offer comfortable classrooms, a computer lab with Internet access, a wide variety of self-study materials, and a common room for student use. Our social calendar is full of excitement, including cultural activities (Vancouver Art Gallery and the UBC Museum of Anthropology), visits to parks (Lighthouse Park, Lynn Canyon, Queen Elizabeth Park), professional sports (NHL Canucks and CFL Lions), and outings to pubs, restaurants, or picnic areas! Excursions to the capital city of Victoria or the mountain resort of Whistler are arranged every month. Summer activities include cycling, river rafting and hiking. Winter activities include skiing, snowboarding and ice-skating.

Standard English 20

A course with 20 lessons per week, covering all aspects of the language from pronunciation to grammar and vocabulary to practice in the four skills.

Intensive English 30

Suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well-rounded insight into the language and country. Students follow a Standard 20 course in the morning, then intensify and consolidate the tuition in the afternoon classes.

Study English and Work Program

For the first 4 weeks you study an LSI Intensive 30 course to increase your fluency and build confidence with the language. We then place you in a work experience position closely related to your career interests or educational background, allowing you to gain the skills and confidence to pursue your chosen career.

LSI 30 Cambridge Examination Courses

The Cambridge Examinations in English are recognized and highly regarded by English speaking universities and companies. At LSI we offer tailored courses to prepare for these examinations.

University Foundation Program

The course consists of 30 group lessons per week plus two individual lessons. It will focus on the specific and general academic English that each student will require to study at university in an English speaking country.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Preparation

TOEFL is required by non-native speakers of English for admission to universities in the USA and Canada. Preparation for this test at LSI is an afternoon option on the LSI Intensive 30 course.

TOEIC Preparation

This test is accepted by thousands of companies as evidence of proficiency in English in a business situation. Preparation for this exam is an afternoon option on the LSI Intensive 30 course.
