The Language School

The LSI-affiliated school English Language Academy is situated about 3 minutes walk from the promenade in Sliema and is within easy reach of restaurants, cafes and shops. It is one of the founder members of the Federation of English Language Teaching of Malta (FELTOM) and prides itself in being an extremely approachable, friendly school. Our courses are run throughout the year, for adults, teenagers and even young children. Groups are small and attend to six levels of proficiency. Teacher training courses are available for experienced teachers, aimed at primary/secondary schoolteachers of English as a second language. We are also licensed for the EU Socrates Program for Educational Courses. The school is air-conditioned, with reception area, reference library and free Internet services.

Besides our LSI Social/Leisure program we can also organize excursions on Malta and her sister island Gozo.

The English Courses

General and Examination Courses

Standard English

A course with 20 lessons per week, covering all aspects of the language from pronunciation to grammar and vocabulary to practice in the four skills.

Intensive English

Suitable for students who wish to study intensively and get a well-rounded insight into the language and country. Students follow a Standard 20 course in the morning, then intensify and consolidate the tuition in the afternoon classes.

Combination English Courses

This course has 30 lessons per week and comprises 20 General English lessons and 10 lessons concentrating on Business English or on Examination Preparation.

Business English Course

A course with 20 or 30 lessons per week concentrating on English for Business purposes, covering topics such as Banking and Stock Markets, Marketing and Advertising, Recruitment, Sales and Negotiating.

English for Specific Purposes

As English has established itself as the language of Science and Technology, it is felt that students in this field of study would benefit greatly from ESP courses. Areas of interest that are offered include Medicine, Engineering, Management and Aviation.

Cambridge Examination Courses

(15, 20 or 30 lessons per week)

The Cambridge Examinations in English are recognized and highly regarded by English speaking universities and companies. At LSI we offer tailored courses to prepare for these examinations.

TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) Preparation

TOEFL is required by non-native speakers of English for admission to universities in the USA and Canada. Preparation for this test at LSI is an afternoon option on the LSI Intensive 30 course.
