The Language School

Language College Ireland uses the Communicative Approach in language teaching – listen and speak stress-free. The teachers use up-to-date materials with the inclusion of Irish culture, stories, songs etc. And a visit to an Irish music and dance session is included in the many social activities.

On arrival at the school you will be given a short placement test to ascertain your level of English.

The school also takes pride in catering for different English requirements. Some learners like to concentrate on grammar, some on conversation etc. All the teachers are highly qualified and are experienced in teaching at all levels and catering for different kinds of learning styles and personalities.

Language College Ireland offers group classes and one-to-one classes in general and business English, and caters for the major international examinations such as Cambridge, TOEFL, IELTS, TIE etc. The school has modern computer facilities available to all students at no extra charge.

The English Courses

General English

Boost your English learning with intensive conversation and language practice with your private tutor in the afternoon. Topics can include help with finding a job, exam preparation etc.

Business English One-To-One Classes

Special Groups

If you are part of a professional organization and you need to update your skills in business, law, health etc. we can design a programme to suit your needs. Besides normal group classes and one-to-one classes we also offer 4-to-1 groups (maximum of 4 students per tutor).

Examination Courses

We can prepare you for taking any of the popular English language examinations, such as the Cambridge First Certificate, Cambridge Advanced, TOEFL, IELTS, TIE, etc. Please contact us (link to our email) for details.

We recommend the TIE (Test of International English) which is administered by ACELS and the Department of Education and Science. This test is internationally recognised and all candidates are awarded a certificate graded according to the Council of Europe Common Reference Framework. The TIE is almost stress-free because 1) you can write and prepare your chosen topic in advance. 2) the exam dates are flexible and 3) nobody fails!

Term Course (Academic Year) for Visa Approval

This is the required course for non-EU students who need a visa to work part-time after class. Certificate awarded on completion. Please contact us for more details.

High School Program

The duration of this program is one school year. On this course the boys and girls, aged between 10 and 18 years will attend a professional and caring High School in Bray, Co. Wicklow for the academic year. The Student will live with a carefully chosen Irish host Family in Bray. They will receive a warm Irish welcome, in safe and secure surroundings. Students will engage in all family meals, activities, outings, and hobbies.

Students will wear the uniform of the appropriate chosen school.

Students will study with the appropriate school books and will choose the subjects most suitable to their interests.

They will of course study all of their chosen subjects in English.

They will be totally immersed in the Irish Culture and participate in Sports and other activities including Irish Music and Dance.

Teacher Training Course (TEFL)

Language College Ireland is proud to offer a TEFL course that is designed and run by experts. You will enjoy learning about the most up-to-date language teaching methods and techniques and putting them into practice under the helpful supervision of highly qualified tutors.

The Language College Ireland TEFL Course is validated by ACELS (Advisory Council for English Language Schools, under the aegis of the Department of Education and Science). Successful candidates will be awarded the ACELS CELT (Certificate in English Language Teaching), a fully recognised qualification with a rapidly growing reputation worldwide.

The course can be taken full-time or part-time. It is well suited for those who have a degree and want to teach in a recognised English language school in Ireland, or abroad.
