The English Courses

ILSC offers a wide range of courses. You can take any combination you wish, depending on your interests, goals, language level and schedule. Most courses are offered at many different levels and last four weeks.

Academic English Preparation Program

Designed to help you pursue further academic studies in English, this course will strengthen your reading and writing skills. You’ll also improve your grammar usage and speaking vocabulary by exploring academic topics.

After-Hours Accelerated English Programs

ILSC’s After Hours Accelerated Programs offer courses late in the day and in the early evening, to small groups or via one-on-one tutoring. Whether you are studying or working full-time, we will provide you with the education, help and flexible schedule needed to meet your individual goals.
Currently those programs offered within the After Hours Accelerated Program, are related to test preparation: iBT TOEFL, IELTS, and Cambridge. Soon we will be adding GMAT and GRE, as well as other courses.
ILSC’s After Hours Accelerated Program is taught by qualified instructors who assess each class and then tailor the course to meet the needs of its students.  The classes are small (3-5 students per class); therefore, students get more feedback and support based on student need.

Since beginning in 1994, Co-op has become one of ILSC’s most popular programs.  The Co-op program is offered at all 3 of the ILSC campuses.  The Montreal campus offers the program with French and Bilingual options.
The first half of the program is 1 to 3 months of full-time intensive classes (English or French).  After classes, students are placed in an industry that reflects their interests, previous work experience and educational background.

Cambridge Mastery Program (9 to 13 week)

The ILSC Cambridge Mastery Program will prepare and motivate you towards the Cambridge Main Suite Exams (FCE, CAE, CPE, BEC). Owing to their high standards and strict regulations, the Cambridge exams are widely recognized in commerce and industry. These certificates also fulfill English requirements for entrance to many universities, colleges, and other institutions of further education.

The aim of the Cambridge examination curriculum is to achieve clarity in communication. The exams test whole-language: that is, your ability to use, produce and analyze the English language. You’ll be required to demonstrate proficiency in written and spoken English.

TESOL – TYL (Teaching Young Learners) (8 week full-time intensive including 3 week practicum)

ILSC’s TESOL-TYL Diploma Program is designed to equip you with the language skills for teaching English as a second language to young learners (children, adolescents, and young adults).

The basis of teaching English is to understand not only the English language, but also the teaching-learning process. Through a combination of theoretical and practical study, the TESOL-TYL program allows you to achieve an appropriate standard in both skill sets. The strength of the program lies in its high-quality theory preparation, and flexible practicum component integrated into the course.

Ranch Stay Program

The Ranch Stay program combines English language studies with a stay on a working ranch. The program offers horse-loving students an opportunity to work with horses and improve their English. The ranch is located a little south of Kamloops, BC in the beautiful British Columbia grasslands. The friendly owners have years of experience in hosting international students and provide unforgettable experiences.
Students are expected to help out around the ranch with daily chores and will get to spend many hours working and riding the horses. This unique program is a perfect English learning program for nature and animal loving students.
