The Language SchoolGEOS Language Institute New York is located right in the heart of Manhattan. Our language school in New York City is a great place to learn English, work on improving your TOEFL iBT score, and make new international friends. GEOS NYC provides quality language courses in a comfortable atmosphere. The school is located in the St. James Building, which was built in 1886 has views stunning of Madison Square Park and, the Flatiorn District, and Midtown. When the St. James was built on the site of one of the 19th Century's most elegant hotels, it stood in the heart of New York's wealthiest neighborhood just across from Delmonico's. Designed by renowned architect Bruce Price, it is a striking combination of stone, brick, terra cotta, iron and copper in the Beaux Arts style with extensive detailing inside and out. One of its original treasures - a lobby mural painted by the famous French decorating firm of Arthur Brounet is maintained in its original glory. Within walking distance of our school, students can visit such famous places as the New York Public Library, Madison Square Garden, the Museum of Modern Art, etc. We are also close to Broadway, Times Square, and lots of places to eat and shop. Our school offers small, student-centered conversation classes. The class size is limited and there are various types of classes for many different levels of students. For a better learning environment, students are divided into appropriate levels. We offer both full and part time classes with convenient schedules.
The English CoursesPrivate English TuitionPrivate lessons consist of the teacher and student only. The course content can be tailored to the needs of the student. This is a wonderful opportunity for highly motivated students to concentrate on the skills they need most. Course is subject to availability at the school.
Intensive EnglishThis course starts every Monday and caters for students from beginner to advanced level. This course is for students with an interest in improving their English in a wider, general context, whether it is for travel, friendship or their career. The course is divided into morning and afternoon components, making it possible for students to study full-time and take electives. Regular testing is done to monitor the students’ performance and give feedback.
TOEFL Exam coursesTOEFL stands for Test of English as a Foreign Language. Many universities and institutions around the world use TOEFL scores as a condition of entry, especially in the USA and Canada.
Holiday English Course ProgramsIfStudents can have the opportunity to combine an English language course with a sightseeing or adventure holiday! Alternative AccommodationAlthough GEOS does not really recommend alternative accommodation we understand that for some students it is the best option. This is why all schools are able to help in finding alternative accommodation i.e. backpackers, flat mates etc. Schools will always have listings of shared accommodation arrangements and the friendly staff is always there to help any student who may have an enquiry.
