The language School

The Vancouver school is located in the heart of the urban centre but only minutes away from the mountains and sea.

It is within easy walking distance to the Vancouver Art Gallery, Canada Place, and the internationally renowned Robson Street and has access to public transport including the Sea Bus, SkyTrain and major bus routes.

Students have full access to free Internet, during school hours from 8:30 to 5:00 Monday to Friday.

School opening hours: 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Monday to Friday.

The team at Centre Linguista Vancouver includes a student services coordinator, who is available for any questions or advice, additionally the Director of Studies is available anytime to answer any academic questions.

The English Courses

Mini Group Intensive English Courses (25 hours per week)

This course is designed to deliver maximum improvement in English in the fastest possible time. Available every week of the year, and to students of all abilities from beginner to advanced, this highly structured program is designed to give students the skills, knowledge and confidence required to succeed exams, or in their present or future occupation. The course consists of 25 hours of lessons per week in small classes of 10 participants maximum.

Morning: Core language skills development program. In this part of the program students work to reach goals in area such as:
- developing accuracy in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
- increasing comprehension and reaction time
- improving fluency and confidence

Afternoon: In order to meet the differing needs of the students on the course, the afternoon lessons offer the choice between developing language skills for present or future career purposes or preparing for an official test or examination.

Individualized English Courses (15 or 25 hours per week)

This is the ultimate language-training program designed for the most ambitious learners.
Students learn at their own pace while receiving 100% attention from the teacher in this tailor-made course. The teacher coaches the participant for 3 or 5 hours every day, focusing on the areas that need development. This is a highly personalized program designed to give the student the skills, knowledge and confidence required to succeed. For students of all abilities from beginner to advanced.

On this course the student works to reach goals in areas such as:
- improving specific areas of weakness in grammar, vocabulary or pronunciation
- achieve specific tasks such as passing an exam
- achieve business goals such as giving a presentation, attending a meeting or conference and writing a report
- improving fluency and confidence.

Combination English Course (30 hours per week)

Students can choose to take the Intensive 25 course together with an additional hour of individual tuition every day. This course combines the advantages of learning in a structured group situation (maximum 10 students) for 25 hours each week, with the benefits of highly personalized attention in 5 hours of individual coaching each week.

In the Combination Course students work to reach goals in area such as:
- developing accuracy in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation
- improving comprehension and expression
- achieve specific tasks such as passing an exam, giving a presentation, attending a meeting or conference, writing a report
- improving fluency and confidence.

Internship (25 hours per week)

Students can combine an Intensive 25 course with an internship which gives the opportunities to practice language skills in a business environment while gaining valuable, relevant international work experience. Participation requires TOEFL 80, TOEIC 750, FCE, IELTS 6.0 or equivalent. Placement in internships depends on position availability, language proficiency and work experience.

Young Learners Term School Program (22.5 hours per week)

This year-round program prepares young people (14 to 17 years old) for future success in a stimulating and challenging English immersion environment. The small class size encourages fluency and leads to spontaneous use of language. Focused on developing communication abilities and social skills in a friendly and nurturing setting, the program concentrates on:
- spoken fluency and accuracy
- increased vocabulary
- confidence building

During the academic year (September to June) the course is High School preparation program and includes some lessons designed to give vocabulary and study skills for students planning to attend an English speaking school or university at a future date.

Young Learners Summer School Program (22.5 hours per week)

This program prepares young people (14 to 17 years old) for future success in a stimulating and challenging English immersion environment. The small class size encourages fluency and leads to spontaneous use of language. Focused on developing communication abilities and social skills in a friendly and nurturing setting, the program concentrates on:
- spoken fluency and accuracy
- increased vocabulary
- confidence building

During July and August the course is a summer vacation program with English lessons and a full supervised leisure program in the afternoons after lessons and a full-day excursion on Saturdays.
