Work Experience Program with LSI in AucklandFacts about working in New Zealand with a Student Visa: • To be eligible you must be enrolled in a full-time course of at least 6 months with LSI If you satisfy the above criteria, you are eligible to work for 20 hours per week. Please note: you are able to sit the IELTS exam while you are studying in NZ – if you succeed in gaining a 5.0 you can then apply for a ‘Variation of condition’ to work on your Student Visa, and you may be permitted to work for the remaining months of your course. Working Holiday Visa Holders You are able to work in NZ for a maximum of 3 months for each employer. You are also able to study for up to 6 months in an English Language institution. (The length depends on your country’s agreement with NZIS.) You can find more information at: http://www.immigration.govt.nz/migrant/stream/work/workingholiday/ Can I work on any other visa? The only other visa on which you can work is a Work Permit. In order to get a Work Permit you must have a letter of support from an employer. You cannot study on a Work Permit. Will LSI New Zealand help me? If you are legally eligible to work, LSI New Zealand will help you apply for an IRD number, which you need in order to work. LSI will also recommend places you can search employment; however we do not guarantee jobs for students.
